As of 2016 the currency in Bulgaria is the Euro. This means that travellers from the EU do not have to change their money. Non EU Tourist however still have to change to EUR.

The standard is cash. In restaurants, souvenir shops, bars and discos it is uncommon to pay with credit card. ATM machines are everywhere along the boulevard and city center. Check your costs for international cash withdrawals in your bank before departure. Withdrawing money in exchange offices in the resorts always result in a 10% commission, so always use an ATM.
